Caller ID Spoofing happens when callers use technology to hide their phone numbers so that in the Caller ID another phone number is shown. This spoofing can come in the form of a call or text message and can look like it is from a legitimate bank or other organization.
Caller ID Spoofing is Dangerous Scammers are deceiving innocent people every day into providing confidential information, like credit card numbers, social security numbers and PINs. With this information, they can gain access to your identity or bank accounts. They can then withdraw money or apply for loans.
How to Protect Yourself If you receive suspicious communication, don’t respond. Contact the bank directly or check your accounts via Online or Mobile Banking. If you are ever suspicious of a call, we welcome and encourage you to end the call and contact one of our branches directly.
